The idea of the "Greek Museum of Adelaide"
The Greek Museum of Adelaide, is an idea of Chrysoula Melissinaki that she had since 2012, the year she came from Greece, to live in Australia with her family. The absence of a Greek museum in South Australia was something missing from this beautiful city of Adelaide, in which at least 30,000 Greeks live in the state. Chrysoula with her husband, Panagiotis Mavraidis, decided to start the Greek Museum. They made a team of people with the same interest and on 9th of May 2019 they established the “Greek Museum of Adelaide Incorporated”, as a not for profit association in South Australia.
The founding members of the museum are firtst and second generation Greek immigrands who came in Australia from 1950 till 2012. Everybody is welcome to be member or volunteer of the museum, regardless of color or race or religion.
